Windcave EFTPOS Terminal not Connecting

What to do when Bustle is no longer connected to the Windcave Terminal?

Written by Brent Wimmers

Note: Terminal or Connection Errors

We can help with connecting your EFTPOS terminal to Bustle and checking your Bustle settings. However, if you see an error while setting up or using the terminal - including an EFTPOS error shown in Bustle - you'll need to contact your EFTPOS provider. They manage the terminal and are best placed to troubleshoot the error.

Quick Fixes:

  • Close and restart the Bustle app, then try connecting again.

  • Still no connection? Reboot both iPad and EFTPOS terminal.

  • Disconnect and reconnect the terminal from the till, in Bustle Till Settings > EFTPOS > Disconnect.

  • Check the iPad and EFTPOS are on the same network. Look in iPad settings > Wi-Fi, check your iPad hasn’t changed networks. You may need to contact Windcave to check the terminal network setup.

  • Ensure “Allow Network Permissions” is enabled on your iPad.

  • Have you swapped to a new Terminal? Disconnect the terminal and follow these setup instructions.

Still no connection?

Let's check the setup:

  1. Do your HIT credentials on the EFTPOS terminal and Bustle EFTPOS settings match? Head to Settings > EFTPOS on the Bustle iPad app and ensure they are entered correctly. Press the menu button on the Terminal Status page to view your HIT credentials.

  2. Check that you have selected the correct connection type in the Bustle Hub (Windcave). See the setup article for help.

Temporarily use EFTPOS without integration

If you’re unable to reconnect during service, you can disconnect the terminal and use Bustle and Windcave separately until the issue is resolved.

In Bustle, head to Settings > EFTPOS > Disconnect.
When taking a payment:

  1. Press Pay in Bustle and note the amount due.

  2. Enter that amount directly into the EFTPOS terminal and process the payment.

  3. Once the terminal confirms the payment was successful, press Card in Bustle to record it.

Further troubleshooting (after service):

  1. Try restarting your router after service (as this will disconnect everything for a couple of minutes). Turn off the router for a full minute then restart it. Leave it for another couple of minutes. Please note: the IP address of your printer may have changed so test printing, and if there are issues try to Search for printers again and locate them in the Bustle printer settings.

  2. Have there been any recent changes on your network? You may need to contact your IT provider to assist.

  3. If you're experiencing intermittent issues with Bustle not connecting to your Windcave terminal, check out this article:
