What are accounts and vouchers?
Accounts are customer or staff tabs you can set up to run over multiple days of trade. Vouchers are a type of account that are used for pre-paid gift vouchers you sell and take the money through Bustle via cash or card.
Read this article first to get to know the layout of the Accounts page, then head to our follow-up article that explains all the actions you can do, like create accounts/vouchers, add debit/credit, clear balance, archive, invoice - link at the bottom of this article...
Now, let's take a look at how accounts and vouchers appear on your Bustle hub.
Head to Accounts > Active Accounts (or Archived Accounts).
The Accounts page will look like the pic below 👇
Right under your Account and Invoice summaries, you can search by account name or email address to find what you need.
Prefer to browse? Use the account type drop downs to scroll through the list.
By default, you'll only see accounts that owe money or are in credit. Want to see everything? Flick on the Show Settled Accounts button.

Account Highlights
The top section displays all the account information, including total owing, the account limit and discount rate.
Current Owing
This section displays the accumulation of orders currently on the account. You have the choice of viewing a summary of the items ordered, or the breakdown of all actions on the account.

🧾 Summary of Account
This summary lists all items from orders assigned to the account, along with any discounts, payments, and the remaining balance.
Important Note: If only part of a bill is assigned to the account, all items will still appear in the summary. Bustle cannot determine which items were paid by cash or card versus those charged to the account. Therefore, the total of listed items may not match the final bill amount. The "Total Bill" reflects only the value assigned to the account.
💳 Example Summary
In this instance:
Partial payment by Card: Latte and BLAT = $20.00
Charged to Account: Remaining value = $19.50
📋 Account Breakdown
The breakdown shows a full history of actions on the account - including order assignments, bill values, dates, times, and which staff member made the assignment. You'll see totals, discounts, and the remaining balance at the bottom.
Assignments are collapsed by default, but you can click Expand All Tab Details if you want the full view (handy for printing!).
💡 Example Insight
Here on the breakdown we can see the $20 card payment that was made before the remaining $19.50 was assigned to the account.
🔁 Reminder: All items from the order will show, even if only part was assigned to the account. We can’t split items by payment type, so the Total Bill is the actual amount charged to the account.
Previously Settled
When an account gets fully paid off, it closes the account, opens a new account record (current owing) for any future payments, and moves the details of the paid account to a new row in the Previously settled area. This allows you to access a log of previous payments and assignments.
Archived Accounts
Archived accounts are accounts and vouchers that have been paid off to a $0.00 balance and archived on the iPad. They are displayed in the same way as for active accounts except there is no current owing section and the Show Settled Accounts button is no longer there.

Troubleshooting
⚠️ Final Balance Doesn’t Match Outstanding Balance Total?
If the Final Balance at the top of your Accounts & Vouchers Summary doesn’t match the Outstanding Balance at the bottom, something got out of sync.
This can happen if a payment or assignment was made while the iPads weren’t fully synced. You’ll usually spot it as a previously settled account still showing an amount owing (like in the pic below).
