Most likely causes: Verifone terminal not set up correctly, or network/router issue.

Key Points

  1. Ensure the Correct IP Address is entered
In the Bustle Till, head to:
    Settings > Eftpos
Enter the IP address of your Verifone terminal (e.g. 192.168.1.54).

    • If you see 192.168.0.99, that’s just our placeholder. You’ll need to replace it with your real terminal IP.

    • Finding the Terminal IP address
If you’re unsure, contact your Verifone supplier - they’ll help you locate the correct IP address for your terminal.

  2. Check Internet Connections
Make sure both your Bustle iPad and your Verifone terminal are connected to the internet.

  3. Check that you have set up to correct connection type in Bustle (VCloud or VX-Link) See the Verifone Setup article for help.

Errors when trying to connect.

You may see these errors when connecting:

  • Connection Refused

  • Socket Closed by Remote Peer

  • Terminal not found

  • Host is Down

  • Missing Component

  • Unable to Connect to Terminal

  • Invalid Payout Length

These are the most common errors we see, and they usually mean the terminal is not set up to work correctly with Bustle.

Error: Socket Closed by Remote Peer

This error can be resolved by the EFTPOS NZ Helpdesk or your Verifone supplier.

👉 If they’re unsure, provide them with this technical info:

  • The terminal’s POSLink port needs to be reset to 4444.

Contact Your Verifone Provider

When you contact your Verifone terminal provider, ask them to check the following:

  1. Support Person

    • Request a technician familiar with Bustle setups.

    • Remind them Bustle runs on iPad.

  2. Configuration Checks (ask the technician)

    • Is the terminal set for IP interface listening on port 20001? (This is essential.)

    • Is the terminal using a static IP address?

    • Has Vericentre been updated recently?

    • If yes, confirm the template used is integration-compatible by asking:
👉 “Is the UIA set for IP & Port 20001?”

  3. If Issues Persist

    • If the technician is unsure, or says it’s a Bustle problem, let us know.

    • We can loop in Verifone’s technical team to help troubleshoot.

Info We’ll Need for Verifone Tech Team Support

  • The exact error message you’re seeing.

  • The name of your Verifone terminal supplier.

Troubleshooting other issues

Having ongoing intermittent issues with connecting to EFTPOS?

These issues are often caused by router problems. A router reboot may provide a temporary fix, but if the issues persist, check our troubleshooting guide for ongoing intermittent issues:

Eftpos button has disappeared

Is the Eftpos button no longer there? Click here.

Eftpos transactions successful but Bustle doesn't close it off?

Is your terminal not sending the information back to Bustle? Click here.

Pressing Enter after cancelling a transaction

Depending on your terminal setup, you may have to press enter after cancelling a transaction on the terminal to send this information back to Bustle. To remove the need to press enter, contact your Eftpos terminal provider to get them to configure this for you.

My eftpos cutover doesn't reconcile with my cash up

  • Check with your Eftpos terminal provider what your cutover times are and make sure they match your trading hours.

  • Are your team putting through manual transactions that aren't recorded in Bustle? If this is happening and causing issues, speak with your Eftpos terminal provider to configure manual payments to be accessed via a menu to make it less easily accessible.
